Planned in the Arts and Crafts style by renowned local architects Irving Gill and William Hebbard, no expenditure was skimped to produce a property that mirrored the Marston family's enjoyment for beauty as well as commitment to social progress.
Over the decades, The Marston House moved through numerous owners. Thankfully previous caretakers had the prudence to maintain the property to save its historic architectural integrity. In 1987, the Save Our Heritage Organization (SOHO) bought and renewed the mansion, transforming it into a cultural center and museum.

The Marston House now manages as a historic house museum and functions venue. Travelers can take docent-led tours to view the property's original 20th century Arts and Crafts furnishings and décor. The museum also sponsors exhibitions, lectures, workshops and community functions year-round that carry San Diego's history to life.
